Scripture tells us that we are a kingdom of priests and kings. Most of us easily embrace the priestly role which is the place where we love one another and serve one another. Praise God for this role. May we all endeavor to love one another fervently in our everyday living.
The other role is harder to carry out because it requires us to live as kings here in the now. The main role of a king is to prepare and wage war. We are not talking about normal warfare that we can observe with our natural eyes but warfare in the heavenly places. In other words our battle is not with flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age. Paul talks about this reigning position in many places. One verse in Romans stands out for us to grasp. Let us look at it in the Amplified.
“For if because of one man’s trespass death reigned through that one,(Adam) much more surely will those who receive (God’s) overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness (Putting them into right standing with Himself) reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One.)” Romans 5:17
As the Lord was preparing to ascend back into heaven we find Him telling His disciples (which includes you and me) that the Father had given to Him all authority in heaven and earth. He then promised them that He would be with us all the way to the end of this age. Glory! So we find ourselves seated with Him today waiting for His instructions for today that we might go forth in ALL authority in His glorious name. This is the name that has been exalted over every name.
When Jesus came to earth we find a real stirring of demon forces. The hosts of darkness realized that their hold on the hearts of men was soon to be broken, the ground they had so long held in human life was to wrenched from them. Again, we are called to be nice and sweet most of the time, but there are times when we are called to be strong. Praise God we know that through the work of Calvary Jesus disarmed principalities and powers, making a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them through His blood. This is the battle ground today for us. We must embrace the cross on a daily basis and recognize that we are resurrected with Him today – victorious over all the forces of hell.
WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED AND LOVES US! GLORY!
Lord, we are asking you today to cause us to stand with You in your victory over the enemy. Open our spiritual eyes to observe the forces of hell and grant us boldness to declare to the enemy that we are more than conquerors over him. Thank you Lord Jesus for giving us all authority over the enemy. Amen! So be it!
